Eclipsed…

I was so glad that we had two days off for Pongal. After coming back from a long Christmas vacation, work hardly seems exciting compared to all the fun I had back home. So these two days off, right in the middle of the week was like a dream come true, considering my other dream about the Lorry strike didn’t come true… (There was a shortage of fuel in the city recently, actually in all major cities, and traffic had become so sparse because all the bunks were running low on fuel, and I was fervently hoping that the strike would go on for a week, which would mean no means of transportation to reach office. That was a short lived dream… the strike was called off sooner than I expected. Whatever happened to standing your ground, and making a point and not budging an inch just because the nation is in the throes of chaos…)

Anyway, I got time to do what I wanted… painted a bit and baked a pie. And although I didn’t want to get hooked to Edward again, I couldn’t resist his magical pull and so as the week goes on, I seem to be getting eclipsed by him. I can’t seem to put the book down, or stop thinking about Edward… even now all I want to do is read the book, but at the same time I don’t want to also… I kinda like worrying about him and wondering what’s gonna happen. No wonder I have no social life…

Here are the two books that kept me occupied…
There was a book fair in town and I wanted to see how it would be… so dragged Antonio along. But the place was too crowded, and he was slowly losing his temper, so just went through a few stalls, and saw this book on desserts… tried out the apple pie recipe, it didn’t come out that great, but it was edible. And the other book, Eclipse is where Edward reappers again after being absent in the second sequel New Moon. All these Twilight series have amazing front covers, it’s kinda magnetic… you just know that you have to reach out and touch them, feel the front cover… and that’s the first step to pulling you in.
Here’s something I painted…

I did see a few good movies over the past weekend. Tonio wanted to watch Slumdog Millionaire, and although initially I wasn’t keen on watching it… I did get caught up with the story of Jamal and Salim, it nearly tore at my heart what these kids had to go through and how they survived so many harrowing ordeals and how one brother selects the wrong path while the other brother manages to hold on to the innate goodness in him. I liked the musical score in the movie too, Latika’s theme towards the end brought tears to my eyes…

Googled other movies by Danny Boyle (was that impressed by slumdog) and came across Millions, kinda liked this movie too. It’s bout this kid, who comes across a lot of money, specifically pounds and he and his brother have just a few days to spend it before the currency changes to Euros.

Okay, since Edward seems to be hovering about in my head, I thought of ending with a few of his lines…

  • I decided as long as I was going to hell, I might as well do it thoroughly
  • Kryptonite doesn’t bother me, either.
  • Honestly — I’ve seen corpses with better color. I was concerned that I might have to avenge your murder.
  • I hope you were more creative this time… or are you still stealing from comic books?
  • Only you could get into trouble in a town this small. You would have devastated their crime rate statistics for a decade, you know.
  • Your number was up the first time I met you.
  • I can’t be sure, of course, but I’d compare it to living on tofu and soy milk; we call ourselves vegetarians, our little inside joke.
  • And as for her other question… well, I’ll be listening to hear the answer to that one myself.
  • Of all the things about me that could frighten you, you worry about my driving.
  • You need a healthy dose of fear. Nothing could be more beneficial for you.
  • It’s twilight.

  1. yumm book.. not the vampire one..
    pretty painting
and i had this bitter sweet reaction to the movie too. made me a lot homesick.. we saw it in late nov.. which wasnt a good idea

  2. Cake book! how nice… I wish someone would experiment like that in my house :p

I’ve already discussed Twilight with you so I’ll not say anything here! Except that they really ought to keep it in the “above 16” section and not in the children’s section because it’s too sexy! 😀

  3. I got one scrumptuous looking recipe book for new year too. These books tempt us so much that even if the outcome doesn’t give a high to the taste buds, they are worth a try anyway ! 🙂 Happy new year !
