Edward, Leonardo & Clooney…

I just finished reading ‘The Lost World and other stories ‘ by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the lead character Dr. Edward Challenger is a riot, Sheldon Cooper must have been modeled after him… they have the same pompous arrogant nature and both regard themselves as superior intellectual beings. There was a story in the book bout how the spirits of dead people come in contact with us living beings, it was spiritual and spooky at the same time… so I rummaged in the dark and managed to find this Holy Family night lamp I got as a wedding gift. I switched it on and settled down to sleep but Tonio woke up glared at me and asked me if something was wrong with my head… so I explained (with a lot of actions) bout the book I had just read, he gave me one bewildered look and said ‘Why do you read such books then!’. Yeah right, I must get all my excitement from the IPL matches I suppose…

Talking bout spooky, I saw Shutter Island recently and it was freaking interesting… (don’t read further if you haven’t seen the movie yet) I loved Leonardo in ‘Blood Diamond’, and he did do a good job in this movie too, but I don’t like the idea of him being a lunatic.

I liked the parting shot where he pretends to relapse into Teddy again, so that he can have that brain surgery and forget all the awful memories that plague him, he wanted to die a good man… rather than live like a monster. That was the only sane thought he knew, he wanted to be a good person, that’s why he created this Teddy character… a well taken movie, drives you crazy by making you ponder for the longest time on whether Leonardo was the US Marshal Teddy or the patient Andrew Laeddis. I came to the conclusion that he was Andrew after having a long debate with myself…
Talking bout movies, I saw Up in the Air recently and liked it a lot… I thought it was gonna be boring cause the story was bout corporate downsizing and stuff like that. But I really liked it, and

I think its all because of George Clooney, have the hugest crush on him now…. he’s so suave and cool and good looking in the movie. The way he dresses, his silver tinted hair and the crinkles round his eyes and his voice… he’s simply fascinating. Okay, getting past the awesomeness of Clooney, the movie is really simple… tells the story bout how Ryan Bingham (Clooney) spends most of his life flying from city to city firing folks for a living. All this is about to change when a young girl, Natalie (who has just joined the company) tries to revolutionize the business by introducing online firing, this of course doesn’t go down well with Clooney. I like the way he orders her to (mock) fire him just after her demonstration. To make matters worse the boss tells Clooney that he has to take Natalie around with him and show her the ropes… this leads to many comical situations. Alex (Vera Farmiga) is another frequent flyer who appears on the scene, and she and Clooney hit it off immediately… what follows next is how Clooney’s views on life and relationships are subtly altered by his interactions with these two ladies.
