Eiffel at night and Sainte Chapelle…

So after the evening mass on Sunday,
we climbed up the 284 winding steps…
Of the Arc de Triomphe, here she is lit up at night…
And from the top of the Arc, this is how the Eiffel Tower looks at night…
It sparkles a few minutes every hour… and then people start kissing on top of the Arc. It was cute until this one teenage guy almost ate his girlfriend’s face, licking and kissing with so much ferocity, she almost looked like voldemort when he was done. But everybody else was cute and the whole atmosphere up there on the Arc was pretty exciting…
Pretty neat huh…
Champs Elysees Avenue as seen from the Arc… we went strolling along this avenue on the way back.
You’ll find many street performers on this avenue…
The next day being our last day in Paris, the guys decided on a Seine cruise and I learnt the reason for this later on. They didn’t want to walk and so they made sure I was stuck on a boat, this way I couldn’t just take off and discover new places. On the way to the boat, saw pretty sights like this…
The boating dock…  it was quite a sunny day, and I didn’t like being cooped up in a boat. But we did benefit out of it, towards the end of the Seine cruise, the tour guide was exclaiming about a beautiful church and she said it is the most beautiful church in Paris in her opinion. So I asked her which church she was talking about and she said Sainte Chapelle, so after getting off, we had time to visit this church before heading off to catch our flight…
Stopped by the Sainte Chapelle and it is mindblowingly breathtaking.
This picture does not do justice, renovations were going on and scaffolding was covering an entire wall, and I couldn’t take proper pictures.
(picture taken from here)
But this is how it really looks… pure magnificence. Stained glass interior all around reaching the ceiling… we spent our time gaping up in wonder. Apparently only the royal family could worship here, all the commoners had to prayer in another ordinary church below this… yeah, I know, Christianity as a religion was really messed up back then, things don’t seem that better now either.
Carved exterior of the church…
So with this my Paris trip comes to an end…. I hope you all didn’t get bored. Remember I was telling you about this group of kids playing near the Eiffel Tower, I just found this video… enjoy their rendition of the classic Billie Jean.

  2. Voyeur!!!! They were kids right? Maybe they were practicing trial n error technique…I am sure he would get it right once he is past a couple more girlfriends…btw, your paris vist seems to have taken you past a lot of churches, is this what they mean when they say people get all religious in their old age?….dont swear-jus kidding

  3. Merle, roaming around with friends anywhere in the world is a blessing… that's how it should be, life… living and travelling, breathing in different cultures and seeing different people.

    Yummychunklet, thanks…

Ganesh, kids or not… this was bordering on abuse of the tonsils, it was like a violent game of tonsil hockey.
